Annual Events

John Day Memorial Race

Held each February at Diamond Lake Resort, this race honors Oregon cross-country skiing legend John Day. It is hosted by the Southern Oregon Chapter of the ONC and draws skiers from across the region.

John Craig Memorial Wilderness Classic

This annual event, held in March or April, commemorates John Craig, who in 1877 carried U.S. mail over McKenzie Pass on skis. Tragically, his first journey ended in a December blizzard. The event honors his legacy and adventurous spirit. For more details, contact johncraigmemorial@onc.org.
